American Governmentáis a one-semester, six-unit course of study. áStudents are introduced to the origins and background of American government. áIncluded in the course content are units of study focus on the political process, American governmental institutions, civil rights and civic responsibilities, and the structure and functioning of state and local governments.

Grades are weighted as follows:


Final Exam:á 20%
Unit Tests:á 20%
Reading Quizzes: á10%

In-class Simulations/Presentations:á 20%
Homework:á 15%
Govt Project:á 15%


Attendance is extremely important for academic success!á Some assignments (student presentation notes, simulations, discussions, etc)á cannot be made up due to their nature, so consistent attendance is necessary to receive a good grade
